1.- WHAT IS THE FIRST CONGRESS OF URBAN PARKS?The First Congress of Urban Parks is the first edition of an event that will be held annually to gather and train professionals, public officials, technicians, decision makers, academics, students, civil society and suppliers related to the public space in the same place, to boost the urban parks and recreation industry in Mexico, creating a space of three days of training, conferences, workshops and commercial exhibition
2.- WHERE IS THE FIRST CONGRESS OF URBAN PARKS?In Merida, the capital of Yucatán state and the 2017 Capital of Culture for the Americas. Forbes has named Mérida one of the three most livable cities in Mexico, and the best choice for investment and business. The leading newspaper El País selected Merida as one of 2017´s top 10 cities and lonely planet, a leading international travel publication, named Merida one of the world´s most attractive cities.
3.- WHEN IS THE FIRST CONGRESS OF URBAN PARKS?The First Congress of Urban Parks will take place in the city of Mérida from April 25 to 27, 2018. During these three days the assistants will have the opportunity to visit the city in our outdoor workshops, learn in our keynote presentations and educational sessions, do networking every day and at social events, besides having access to the commercial exhibition.
4.- VENUEThe event will be held at the new International Congress Center of Yucatán located between Colón and Cupules and street 62 in Colonia Centro. It is within walking distance of multiple hotels
5.- ¿POR QUÉ DEBO ASISTIR?This event will help professionals in the park industry to increase in number and knowledge, to expand their businesses and develop relationships with other assistants.
6.- WHAT ACTIVITIES WILL BE INCLUDED IN THE CONGRESS?The First International Congress of Parks combines technical knowledge in educational sessions, but also offers experiential opportunities through its workshops.
The activities begin on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 with 9 workshops (that will have an additional cost to the congress registration) in which the attendees will visit Mérida’s parks, Puerto de Progreso pier, they will also have the opportunity to know a project of bicycle recreation route, urban gardens among others that will extend their knowledge about public space.
On Thursday and Friday there will be eight lectures and more than 50 educational sessions corresponding to the themes developed: design and planning, public service and citizen participation, city, economy and uses of public space as well as health and environment.
The congress will host two social events, the inauguration on Wednesday 25th and the closure on Friday 27th. These events are unique opportunities for congress attendees to meet, exchange knowledge and information, do networking in a relaxed atmosphere and of course, to have fun.
You will have unlimited access to the commercial exhibition that will take place in the Convention Center all day during keynote presentations and educational sessions. However, there will be designated times exclusively to visit it.
7.- WHO WILL ASSIST THE CONGRESS?This congress will bring together more than 1,000 leaders including urban planners, government officials, technicians, decision makers, academics, students, civil society and equipment suppliers from all over Mexico and Latin America.
8.- HOW TO GET TO MERIDA?The best way to get to Merida is through its International Airport, Manuel Crescencio Rejón (MID). Other alternatives are: get to Cancun’s International Airport (CUN) and take a bus to Merida (bus time is around four hours) or stop at Mexico City’s International Airport, Benito Juárez (MEX) arriving at Merida in a flight lasting approximately one and a half hours.

12.- DO I HAVE TO REGISTER FOR THE THREE DAYS OF THE CONGRESS?To maximize the learning experience, we recommend you to register for all three days (including Wednesday 25, workshops day). However, as the entrance to the workshops and the two days of keynote presentations and educational sessions are charged independently, you decide if you participate three or two days.

15.- DO I HAVE TO REGISTER WITH ANTICIPATION OR CAN I DO IT THE DAY THAT THE CONGRESS BEGINS?We strongly recommend that you register beforehand to ensure your participation in the congress, to take advantage of the discounts for early registration and to plan which educational sessions to assist to get the most out of the congress.

Please have your confirmation email with a clearly printed bar code and a valid official ID to pick up your registration kit. Once registered, you will receive the congress identification badge. Please use it throughout the congress, educational sessions and social events. If you lose the badge, the replacement will have an additional cost.
18.- CAN I SHARE MY IDENTIFICATION BADGE WITH SOMEONE ELSE IF I CAN'T ASSIST TO ANY ACTIVITY?No, sharing badges is not allowed..

20.- HOW IS THE CLIMATE IN MERIDA?In general the climate is tropical, warm and humid. The temperature during the month of April is between 30 and 35 ºC.
21.- WHAT IS THE DRESS CODE FOR THE CONGRESS?The dress code for the conference is casual. Some experiences of the conference take place outdoors - such as workshops, but the venue has air conditioning permanently. Social events could be an opportunity to dress up a little more formal if you wish, however these events will be outdoors. We invite you to be prepared for a little warmth!de calor!. |
